After spending a lot of time painting the Dungeons and Dragons miniatures, I decided I needed a better storage option that would help prevent the paint from chipping. I did some research and found that one of the best ways to store miniatures economically is with foam trays. However, the foam is still pretty expensive. So, I decided to get foam through some alternative method.
I checked on Craigslist and found that someone was getting rid of a small sectional couch corner piece for FREE! So, I decided to get it and harvest the foam from the seat of the couch for foam trays.

This is the foam immediately after being removed from the corner sectional couch. We then washed it with water and laundry detergent in the tub, rung it out, and let it dry for around 48 hours. | This is what couch looks like after one hour of demolition. Let's just say, I got some weird looks as I walked the couch remains to the dumpster. |
Overall, I was quite happy with the quality of the foam, and you can't beat the price!
